Founder Interview:

Focusing on the much neglected electrical industry, a new startup tells their story.

1) Who is the team behind and how did the idea come to be?

The idea is with our past experience in the electrical field as we wanted to change the present intricate and disordered electrical trade with existing distribution system using technology.

Ajay Kumar Raju Uppalapati, B.Tech (EEE) (founder): 17 years of hands-on experience worked with Multinational companies Dr.Reddys, Endress + Hauser (Swiss-Based ). As Grade A contractor with vast experience in erection of substations, 132, 220 KV Lines executed projects with TCS, Raheja, AP Transco and many projects from 2009.

Vijay Krishna Yerramsetty, MCA, MBA. (Co-founder): 15 years of experience in Designing Business models, Training Programs. Worked for Contract Leasing Limited, London, as Procurement Manager for BMW and Mercedes Benz Automobiles. Later as an Automotive Trading Agent for Initial Products Limited, London, France, Germany, Thailand, and Singapore. Vijay is also a serial entrepreneur with success venturing in Second Hand Car Show Rooms in Cardiff, United Kingdom, and Automatic Car Wash Plants.

2) Can you share some details as to how the electrical products industry operates currently and how your platform will change it?

The electrical industry is very complicated w.r.t quality, price and genuineness and the trade process is very complex. A lot of time is consumed in selecting a product and ordering with proper specification and many had to depend on third parties.

We here with encourage only genuine electrical manufacturers and MNC’s to showcase their products, with proper pricing and specifications for easy selection and quick trade process for industries, as only 10% of the industries have a setup of procurement department. acts as virtual procurement department for any industry which requires electrical products from low voltage to very high voltage equipment, ease out the process of third party involvement and creating a bridge for the customer to the manufacturer. We give the opportunity to manufacturers for showcasing their products along with everyday reach to 68000 industrial customers, consultants and electrical contractors by product newsletters, special deals and new trends from manufacturers

3) Are you aiming to be more like a B2B business or is the focus more towards the consumers?

We aim mostly for B2B as the business trade is very complex when it comes to Industries, and less for consumers so that we can concentrate on Bulk orders for House Owners Or any Real estate Companies.

4) Who are your typical suppliers and users?

Our typical suppliers are manufacturers from Low Tension equipment to Very High tension equipment, ranging from domestic to substation equipment.
Our users are from any industry where there is an electrical need, Electrical Contractors, Consultants, real estate builders; infrastructure Companies and finally any consumer with bulk orders.

5) How has the growth been since launch and what are the future plans?

Our launch was with an informative portal providing information about the electrical manufacturers, their products, and their respective distributors throughout India.

As per the quantity of trade inquiries and offline Business we had, we watchfully converted to E-commerce website with successful working product having on average daily visits of 1200 and on average transactions of 10 with average transaction value of 3000/-INR.

The Growth has been very significant with our visitors increasing on average of 20 to 30 % a week.
As we already in the position no. 1 in the vertical core market of electricals and, we have plans of changing the spelling of electricals to Electrikals in future.
Our future plans are to become the best genuine website for Core electrical market within a span of next two years, concentrating on support and delivery on time to be top on our service list making us first ever one-stop shop for electricals.

6) What is your one tip for aspiring entrepreneurs?

We believe “Transforming a need is determination of success”
